Unlike many town pier’s across the country, Bournemouth’s pier is still actively in use and enjoyed by thousands of people every month. Built and rebuilt many times through the last two centuries the current pier and its attractions are world class and well worth a visit. Originally built in 1861, the current structure was put in place between 1979 and 1981 at a cost of £1.7 million.
At the entrance to Bournemouth’s pier there is a two story leisure centre, with an 850 seat pavilion some 1000 feet further out to sea! You can enjoy some of the best views of the bay and surrounding coastline from the end of Bournemouth pier. For all you souvenir hunters there is a wide range of shops offering you everything from postcards to local produce.
